TORONTO, ONTARIO – NOVEMBER 8th, 2022 – Cherish each moment, with craftsmanship that rewards you every time you slip behind the wheel. The Lexus RX series – always bold, always elegant, always chiselled to perfection – is completely redesigned for 2023. The result is everything that Canadians love about the RX, plus new features and amenities that bring style and substance to a whole new dimension.

“Lexus defined the luxury crossover when we released our first RX in 1998 – and today, with the fifth-generation model, we redefine it yet again,” said Martin Gilbert, Director of Lexus Canada. “This all-new, 2023 RX adds extraordinary refinement to the RX legacy, exceeding our Guests’ needs and desires through innovations to all facets of its design, engineering, and construction. We’re especially proud that this important Lexus model is built at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada in Cambridge, Ontario – one of the top auto assembly plants in the world.”

The all-new RX debuts a new, bold and alluring body. Designers built on the foundation of the brand’s signature Lexus spindle grille – expanding it into a new, cohesive body design. Inside, the RX offers Guests an intentional, human-centric cabin. The driver will delight in control surfaces tuned to enable a deeper and more intuitive connection with the RX.

Performance and style are both enhanced by an all-new for RX, Global Architecture-K (GA-K) platform that lowers the centre of gravity, optimizes weight distribution, and boosts body rigidity. The result is the Lexus Driving Signature – a vehicle designed to inspire driver confidence and control – plus enhanced ride comfort and quietness, more refined performance, and additional room for both passengers and cargo.

New this year, every RX features Lexus Interface – a North American designed multimedia and connectivity system incorporating a natural language Intelligent assistant that enables a voice-first approach to navigation, media, communication, and other vehicle features.

The 2023 RX is available in a choice of three powertrains:

The RX 350 AWD is built around a responsive 2.4L turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. This combination produces 275 peak horsepower and up to 317 lb-ft of torque for dynamic driving performance and has a fuel consumption rating of 11.2/8.4/9.9 L/100 km (city/highway/combined).

The RX 350h AWD is a fourth-generation self-charging hybrid electric system based on the industry-leading Lexus Hybrid Drive technology. This system, built around a 2.5L four-cylinder engine and electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, generates 246 net system horsepower and up to 233 lb-ft of torque, with an improved fuel consumption rating of 6.3/6.8/6.5 L/100 km (city/highway/combined) over the previous generation.

The RX 500h AWD – an all-new RX model – introduces a new hybrid electric system that delivers 366 net system horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, with a fuel consumption rating of 8.7/8.4/8.6 L/100 km (city/highway/combined). This system features a front unit that integrates a high-torque 2.4-litre turbo engine, six-speed automatic transmission, inverter and an electric motor, plus an eAxle rear unit that integrates a high output electric motor, inverter and reduction gearbox. This configuration allows the electric motor to provide low-end torque that contributes to improved performance and quick acceleration. The turbocharged engine produces high torque throughout its entire rev range, delivering powerful acceleration even at higher speeds. RX 500h models use the Lexus DIRECT4 AWD drivetrain, which optimizes power to the eAxle to deliver maximum traction and acceleration in all situations.

Lexus offers the RX 500h and select RX 350 models with F SPORT packaging. These models deliver even sportier driving dynamics with adaptive variable suspension systems plus more aggressive F SPORT styling.

As a Lexus, every RX series model is impressively equipped with state-of-the-art safety features, starting with Lexus Safety System + 3.0. This portfolio of active safety technologies supports the driver’s awareness and decision-making under a range of traffic conditions and contingencies. Features include: the Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, Intersection Support and a new feature of Motorcycle Detection; All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with new Curve Speed Management (DRCC); Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA); and Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS).

Other standard safety systems include a backup camera with back guide monitor, the Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, the Rear Seat Reminder system, a tire pressure monitoring system, and eight airbags. A digital latch system enables doors to open smoothly at the touch of a button when entering or exiting the vehicle – and by scanning the environment, Safe Exit Assist alerts the driver and passengers to avoid the risk of accidental contact with passing vehicles and cyclists, helping ensure safe openings and closings.
